We're moving!

This whole site is being moved to a shiny new server - as are all my sites, in fact. Apologies for the bumpy road ahead, but at the end of that road things will become fast and smooth.

Once the site at the new server is ready, this message will automatically disappear!

Meanwhile, you can see how the move is progressing at the status page.

Introduction

This section of The Bookstore is dedicated to Operating Systems: those that are frequently used to run web server software on. Because it's a rather big subject, with lots of books, the section is subdivided into three bookshelves: Unix, Linux and Windows (NT & 2000). You'll also find some recommendations from Amazon in the side bar for each; reload the page to see different results.

Unix

Here are my recommendations for books Unix, an excellent platform to run webservers: I own the first two books myself, and I use them a lot (as coffee stains illustrate).

Linux

I hate to admit it, but I haven't gotten started with Linux yet. (Too busy maintaining this website and writing tools and extensions for HomeSite and Studio is a good enough excuse for now.) Whether you have already started with Linux or not, you're likely to find a few books on this page that you'll want in your library. My recommendations are partly based on reader reviews, and partly on my experiences with certain publishers.
Go to Linux. to menu

Windows

These are books I highly recommend about Windows (both NT and 2000), much-used platforms to run webservers.

Finding other books

You can use these search forms to search Amazon.com's or Amazon.co.uk's catalog for books, software, and more. And mail let me know what you missed so I can add it!
