Introduction |
These are books I highly recommend about Web Server Software in General in general. I own the first one in the list and even though it's somewhat dated by now it gets a lot of use. |

Webmaster in a Nutshell, 2nd Edition: A Desktop Quick Reference
|
|||
Background |
This is a book I own myself, and I can't do without it. Even though I own the first edition which
by now is somewhat dated with respect to the software versions it treats, I still find it indispensible and grab it every time I need to
configure something on the web server. The book takes all the essential reference information for the Web and pulls it together into one
volume. It covers HTML 4.0, CSS,
XML, CGI, SSI, JavaScript 1.2, PHP, HTTP 1.1, and administration for the Apache
server. I can always find what I need here to get things working the way I want and it's small enough to read on the tram, too.
Get it!

sendmail, 2nd Edition
|
|||
Background
|
The sendmail program is quite powerful, but configuration is not easy and the online documentation
is good but rather terse. Although there are more books, this one is considered by most to be the definitive book on sendmail. If
you are responsible for a server running sendmail, you need this book!

It may be out of print in the US, but you can still order it from Amazon. An excellent resource for
fighting spam, for both individuals and system administrators.
